Prayer for God's Help With Covid-19 News Today

God longs to help us more than we long to be helped. He invites us to come to Him and ask for that help. He will not force Himself on us but He will respond to our cries. Let's pray and ask for His help today.
Loving God, We confess that we live too much of our life on our own and it's only in these times of tremendous challenge that we recognize just how powerless we are without You. Forgive us for just getting on with so much of our lives without consulting You. Help us today, particularly since we have the time, to pray and meditate on Your Word and seek to improve our conscious contact with You. We want to know Your will for us in this day and have the power to carry it out.
We keep hearing how we need to do social distancing for ourselves, for others in the community, and particulary for the vulnerable. This is about all of us caring for each other. In the same way, You are waiting for us to come to You and bring our needs and the needs of our loved ones to You so you can show your love and compassion to them. You've told us that the prayer of a righteous person accomplishes so much. Help us to pray. May we be people who don't just watch the news but who pray for each new piece of information and those who are challenged by it.
Your heart of love and care is extended to all those who suffer today and those who love them. We pray for parents with special needs children, for elderly people isolated from loved ones, for those who are so sick in hospital without loved ones to be near by, for those who are being laid off their jobs today, for those with mental illness for whom social distancing deepens their challenges, for the homeless and all those who work with them, for people trying to return home and for those who are realizing today it's just not going to be possible with closed borders and cancelled flights, and they find themselves in real difficult circumstances - God these are just a few of the many who are so much worse off than we are. We stand with You. We stand with one another and we ask for Your compassion to be poured out on all of these (and any others who come to mind). We ask for healing. We ask for provision for every need. We ask for comfort and strength. We ask for people to come alongside them with the help that they need in the situation where they find themselves.
Most of all we ask You God to help us not only come to You often these days for comfort and strength and help in our time of trouble, but to come to You with thanksgiving and praise for the wonderful God that You are who never leaves us and never forsakes us. Amen
