Prayer To Have God's Perspective on This Time of the COVID-19 Virus Pandemic
Let’s bring our self to God today and allow him to direct our path and give us a balanced perspective that’s full of faith, full of trust, full of realism, even to the point of bringing our sorrows in our sadness to the God who loves us and cares for us.

During the time of the COVID-19 pandemic I’ve made it my habit to go shopping early in the morning. However, I needed a couple things for dinner tonight and so I went out mid afternoon to a little Asian grocery store just around the corner from where I live. I stopped on the sidewalk look to the left and look to the right. You can see what I saw in the side-by-side picture on the slide. Then when I went around the corner and headed for home one side of the street was in sunshine and the other side in shadow. It made me think about the fact that we can be standing in the same place and yet see things quite differently.
We’re thankful God for your promise that you will not give us more than we can handle but with whatever problem with faith you will give us the strength to endure it and you will provide a way out. We thank you also for the knowledge that you’ve given us in your word that when you live in us we have all the strength we need to face any and all conditions. Forgive us for the times we fail to remember Your promise and live in fear and anxiety about the future or anger and complaining in the moment. Please give us that strength to endure and get through what we’re facing today.
Thank you for accompanying us in every moment. We asked to be conscious of your loving presence with us. Fill us up with faith, Holy Spirit. Reveal the powerful love of our generous Heavenly Father to us. Stir our hearts with hope and peace to believe that You have many good things for us as we go through these stormy days.
You told us that those were the two focus points for life and that everything else hung on those, so help us to have a single minded focus that keeps You before our eyes, before the statistics of the COVID-19 virus and anything else that lurks on our horizon. You are good and You are good all the time. We lean into you right now and trust Your goodness. Amen

There’s no doubt that the difficulties from the COVID-19 virus are horrible. Many individuals and families suffer both because of the disease and because of the lockdowns that keep us away from one another. We haven’t yet begun to see the full financial impact of unemployment and social distancing in business is going forward. So for sure, there are storm clouds on the And in some cases you may feel like the storm clouds are above your head with the rain pounding down around you.
At the same point I found it interesting that well my feet never moved from the place where I was standing today to my life the sun was shining and it was beautiful. The sky was lovely. The sun was warm. It was a lovely spring day.
Today I’m asking myself the question “From where I stand what do I see?” we all know we would be incorrect to say that we only saw the sunshine that everything was fine and dandy. The truth is that both the storm clouds and sunshine are in our circumstances today.
Thank God that he is above all. His perspective is different from ours. He looks down on everything from the beginning of time to the end of time, From the time before the pandemic to this moment and the time when we come through the pandemic.
Heavenly father we come to you today with gratitude and with things that trouble us. We thank you that you welcome us to bring all of our lives to you. You want to accompany us on our journey and you want to help us understand how to navigate through everything we face. You’ve told us that you are the light of life and so whether that’s sunlight beaming down on us in a spring moment or whether it’s a flash light showing us just the next step forward on a dark path, we know God that you will never leave us you will never for sake us you will take care of us and get us through.

We pray to have eyes to see everything that you mean for us to focus on. Help us to notice the blessings that are in each moment and let our hearts be filled with gratitude at all we have. When it’s time to turn our eyes from the sunshine of the blessings to the storm of the problems I pray you’ll give us faith to remember You in the moment and invite you to be our strength so we can care for those who need to care, to be strong for others when they are beaten down by the storm, to be those who are the steadying influence and those who bring what’s necessary in the moment so peace and safety and comfort can be the experienced by those most honorable.

Your heart has always been for the poor and downtrodden and in this time we pray to have your heart. There are so many people in so many countries who live day by day and because their country is locked down they do not have the opportunity to earn a daily living and buy the food for that day that their family needs to eat that day. I pray God that You will give us generous hearts to share and to do everything we can to support them.
You’ve also always had bigger eyes of faith than what we do so when that little boy brought his lunch of five loaves and two fish he thought it was only enough for one person but Lord you knew that you were able to feed thousands with it. We feel like we don’t have much to offer in these days but we trust you God that when we give what we have to you in faith and trust and gratitude for all that you’ve given us, that you were multiply that so that many are helped because of it. Give us generous faithful hearts to see you above and beyond the needs around it today. Give us generous and faithful hearts to love you with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love our neighbour as we love ourselves.

Amen
