Prayer As We Venture Out Into The Community To Go With Compassion and Focus on What's Most Important

Wednesday May 6, 2020
Thank you God for the opportunity many people around the world are beginning to ahve again to go outside and go to work and go places for healthy recreation.  These are limited liftings of restrictions but they are so welcome to everyone who has a chance to experience them.

We pray for respect for the widening bubble in which we can move more freely and interact but still need to do so with physcial distancing precautions in place.  I pray that we will be respectful of everyone so we can all live safely and remain healthy and stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

We pray that we will think of others more than just our own comfort and convenience in these days of community opening.  I pray these will be days where we will intentionally make ourselves aware of what others are going through and go the extra mile to help those less fortunate than ourselves.

We pray God to go out and allow ourselves to be sent out as Your ambassadors.  We want to go out with compassion, with joy, with the good news of the Gospel.  These times of focusing on You has reminded us of so many ways we need to repent and return to You with our whole hearts and make Your agenda our agenda.  We allow ourselves to get cluttered with so many other plans and projects that have nothing to do with Your plan for our lives.  As restrictions lift, help us to maintain a laster focus on You and really be Your followers.

You've given us power and authority for the tasks to which You have called us.  How can we go and make disciples in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit in this season in our community and around the world?  What's important and what needs to be let go of?  Give us grace to get beyond living for our own convenience and really move into Your purposes and plans for our lives one day at a time.

Help us to speak with clarity and boldness, calling ourselves and others to repent, turn to you, and receive the forgiveness Jesus won for us on the cross.  Help us to be open to the gift of the Holy Spirit and share this gift with others because You are wanting to call those who are lost.  It is not Your will that any should perish but that all should come to repentance and find new life and a living relationship with You.

And so Lord, as restictions life and more of us are able to go out to more places, we know the risk factors of further infection spread are unknown.  We pray for wisdom for those who chart the course for us.  We pray once again for respect for the process from all of us.

And most of all, whether this season of the virus is our time to go to heaven to be with your or whether we have a long time yet on this earth beyond this time of crisis, we pray that we will see our life as other faithful followers of You have seen their's.  With the great evangelist Paul we say to You God, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.  Acts 20:24

May our lives show that these are not just empty words but the commitment of our heart.  Amen
