Prayer For Grace and Patience As We See Some Light At The End Of The Tunnel

Saturday May 2, 2020
We pray to live well during these shifting days when the curve of virus infection seems to be curving and even flattening.  As we see "light at the end of the tunnel" we need God's help and wisdom to do each day well in this season and in the new season at the end of the tunnel.

Heavenly father we thank you for progress that has been made in slowing the spread of the COVID-19 virus here in Canada and around the world. While there are still many hot spots and many people who continue to get ill we thank you Lord that you have been the help needed in so many places.

The phrase we hear from many people these days seems to be there is light at the end of the tunnel to be seen. We thank you for the hope that we have, not just that our daily restrictions will be listed, but that many few people will be getting ill or dying. We continue to pray for those who are sick and ask you to lay your healing hand on them in to raise them up quickly.

We pray for those families who have lost loved ones and ask for your comfort to be their strength today. I don’t know if they can see light at the end of the tunnel in this new season they’ve been forced into but you certainly will take them by the hand and lead them through this dark valley and bring them out the other side. You’ve done it for so many before them and we know that you are ready and willing to do it again.

As politicians and healthcare professionals consider how to proceed with opening up the economies and community activities we pray that you will give them wisdom and strength to stand for what’s right rather than what popular opinion of the day is.

While we see light at the end of the tunnel, Lord we realize that we are still in the tunnel in some ways and so we pray for grace to persevere as well as move forward with hope. Help us to live one day at a time, enjoy one moment at a time, and trust you to fill this day with your presence, your peas, and your joy as we make ourselves available to you.

We thank you Lord that not only physically but spiritually you bring us from darkness to light. These have been difficult times emotionally and spiritually for many people and we pray God thank you for the strength poured into us as comfort and hope and reassurance so that those who struggle in this time of isolation will find the strength to stand again and move out and be with others.

We also know that some people are concerned about the impact i’ve been inside for so long that some will experience. I think they call it the Stockholm syndrome and some are worried about whether people will not experience difficulty with readjustment and coming back together in the community. I pray God that you will prepare hearts even now as we come from this difficult time into a new time with caution but also with faith. We pray God against fear reminding ourselves that you’ve not given us a spirit of fear but of power and love and a sound mind and so we bless each one of us to know your caring presence with us and your protection around us.

You made us for relationship and interacting in community and therefore we believe that you have a way forward for all of us to find that beneficial and uplifting again.

And so today we prayed to be attentive and focussed students of Your light and your guiding presence so we get through this last bit of the tunnel well and then as we slowly emerge to more light, we can live in such a way that as others see what we do and they recognize your goodness and give thanks and honour to you.. Only Your Holy Spirit working in us can do this. We cannot do it on her own. We trust you. We commit our lives today and ongoing into your care. Amen
