Prayer For Help To Stay Strong And to Thrive and Not Just Survive In The New Normal
STAYING STRONG: Not Just Surviving But Thriving
All our lives God has pursued us with His love but we were often too busy living life our way to stop and listen. Sometimes it’s only after a season of dysfunctional lifestyle and addiction that we are willing to listen and respond to the plan God has for us. Because of our slowness to respond to God’s direction we often spend large chunks of time surviving when we could in fact be thriving. To transition to a meaningful life requires the discarding of our self-centered ways and welcoming the path God wants to lead us into. As we intentionally seek God’s will for our lives, we will find that it is God's desire that we thrive and not simply survive in recovery. So, let’s do that today.
Father, Thank you for inviting me to live beyond just surviving. You want usto thrive and be filled with joy and purpose. Forgive us for the times we’ve stepped away from Your truth about a situation and followed our own understanding. We turn to you again and acknowledge that You are the source of life. You are our hope. You know the ongoing direction we need for a rich and productive life. We choose to listen to You.
Today, God, we allow You to do in us what we cannot do for ourselves and trust that You can bring about a productive and pleasing way of life for us even in this new normal. Fill our minds and hearts with hope that You will make something beautiful of each day of our lives going forward as we continue to see You in all our way.
We know Lord that You want to steady us and keep us stable as we go forward. We are Your children and we know that it’s in the experience of Your goodness that we find safety, security, love and caring that will set us up well for whatever each day brings. We invite you today to give life to our Spirit, wisdom to our minds, and peace to our souls.
Regardless of what unemployment figures come out from day to day we trust You to provide the work and the resources we need – perhaps to operate at a different financial level than previously but certainly with everything we need. Give us hearts that are content when our needs are met. Forgive us for being so consumed with this and that want based on what others have or just on what’s currently available.
Lord, we are willing for You to empty us of anything that keeps us from living totally dependent on You – that includes not only things but attitudes and perspectives. Peel away anything of denial, deceit, unfaithfulness, lying, cheating, stealing, anger, impatience, hate, lust, and self-pity. True joy and satisfaction comes when God looks down and says: “Well done, my child. You have not just survived but you have thrived.”
What makes life rich and full for us is being conscious of Your grace pouring into our lives day by day. Give us hearts that are grateful we pray – for all that we have, for all the progress that gets made in reopening society in various areas – even though we wish it could all go more quickly. Help us to receive joy from you and share it on our faces with a smile, in our words with compliments and gratitude
Help us to call on you as often as necessary when we do face troubles so we can move beyond merely surviving to thriving. In every time of of illness or hardship, God You are our refuge and strength. Giving up on You is never be an option. We choose today to live in dependence on You, resting in the ultimate security that He provides.
Help us to stay away from discouragement when things do not work out as we think they should. Help us to hang in there, to believe in Your goodness, to trust, to hope, to grow. Help us even to stop what we are doing and ask ourselves, what You are teaching us so we can thrive in this situation? You are working on our behalf. You are teaching us and leading us and providing all we need. We are assured that You are at work in the things that concerns us, and so we go into this day with joy. Amen

His divine power has given us everything we need
for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called
us by his own glory and goodness.
Through these he has given us his
very great and precious promises, so that through them
you may participate in the divine nature,
having escaped the corruption in the world
caused by evil desires.
2 Peter 1:3-4 NIV

He has made everything beautiful in its time.
He has also set eternity in the human heart;
yet no one can fathom what God has done
from beginning to end.
Ecclesiastes 3:11 NIV

For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear,
but you received the Spirit of adoption
by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”
The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit
that we are children of God, and if children,
then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ.
Romans 8:15-17 NKJV

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good!
His faithful love endures forever.
The Lord is for me, so I will have no fear.
What can mere people do to me?
Psalm 118:1,6

God is our refuge and strength,
always ready to help in times of trouble.
Be still, and know that I am God!
I will be honored by every nation.
I will be honored throughout the world.
