TRUSTING GOD’S CARE FOR THE WHOLE JOURNEY
When we face difficulties and problems, we often ask ourselves some questions: Does God care? Does God care about me? Does God care about my situation today? It’s easy to get consumed by the pressure of problems and fail to seek the help that God is offering to give us.
God is always with us. We don’t ever need to face our problems alone. Together, with God, any difficulty can be worked out and overcome.

A couple of verses I never get tired of and many of you could quote them with me:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
and He shall direct your paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV
I also like it when some of the modern language translations or paraphrases of these verses highlight different aspects of what these words mean. Look at these:
With all your heart you must trust the Lord
and not your own judgment. Always let him lead you,
and he will clear the road for you to follow.
Proverbs 3:5-6 CEV
Trust the Lord completely, and don’t depend
on your own knowledge.
With every step you take, think about what he wants,
and he will help you go the right way.
Proverbs 3:5-6 ERV
Trust the Lord completely; don’t ever trust yourself.
In everything you do, put God first,
and he will direct you and crown your efforts with success.
Proverbs 3:5-6 TLB
So, let’s come to God with all our heart today and put our trust in Him.
Heavenly Father, thank you for your promise to never leave us alone and that if we will just trust Your love and care for us, and Your far superior problem solving understanding than ours, that You will safely direct our paths through any and all circumstances and challenges we will face. Help us to trust You when we face problems and allow You to show us the way forward. Help us to seek Your solutions and not try to force our own. Your ways are always better than ours.
Forgive us for the times we respond to problems by complaining and believing the lie that we have been rejected and abandoned by You and others and now we have to “figure it out on our own.” When things don’t work the way we think they should have, and we blame You, God, and others for not helping us. In challenging moments help us to not let the emotions of the moment cloud the truth that You, the all-powerful and always loving us God, are always with us, always powerfully at work on our behalf.
CEV - WITH ALL OUR HEART, even though we may feel uncertain, WITH ALL OUR HEART we’re going to trust You, Lord and give up our own limited judgment. Help us to not fight your leading but to just take things one step at a time and see how you clear the road for us. And then also remind us to give thanks, even before we reach the destination for the steps already cleared so we have faith to trust for the next part of the journey.
ERV - And so God, just as these various translations of these beautiful words tell us we pray that you will help us trust you COMPLETELY and WITH EVERY STEP WE TAKE today, help us to THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU WANT
TLB – We’re so used to putting ourselves first but clearly life works better when we put you first. You tell us that over and over again and You’ve certainly been true to Your word in the experience of those of us who’ve walked with You a while. So, forgive us for our moments of stubborn rebellion. We surrender. You and You alone know the way. We’re going to trust You by following Your way and doing Your will quickly and completely.
The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth
in order to strengthen those whose hearts
are fully committed to him.
2 Chronicles 16:9 NLT
God, your desire is to help us and as we seek You and follow You, with great joy and tons of generosity You will pour out blessing on us. We can’t begin to out-give Your blessing with our obedience.
So, we’re going to get going in these moments but then we also want to ask for Your help so we don’t get tired and discouraged and give up because some things will take some time and effort. We trust You to provide that harvest of blessing at the appropriate time.
So don’t get tired of doing what is good.
Don’t get discouraged and give up,
for we will reap a harvest of blessing
at the appropriate time .
Galatians 6:9 NLT
