Prayer To Put On Our Personal Protective Equipment From God - The Armor of God
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Once a week in their briefings our Minister of Health gives a long list of purchases that have been made in the past 7 days of personal protective equipment. With COVID-19 case numbers rising it’s a bit of comfort to know that preparations are much better now than they were in March when the first wave of the pandemic really broke out and hospitals filled up.
We are all wearing masks in many public places now and while none of those were available to purchase in the beginning we have all sorts of variations available now from disposable non-medical masks to masks with patterns and logos, and ones I personally like that I saw in a restaurant I went to recently, was a plastic barrier that let you still see the person’s face and mouth.
But above and beyond all this protective equipment, I’m grateful today for the Armor of God which is protective equipment we need to wear every day. This equipment is described in Ephesians 6.
Put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.
Ephesians 6:13-18
And so let’s pray now and do that:
Today, Heavenly Father, and every day, we want to put on the personal protective equipment that You so generously provide for us.
I put on the breastplate of righteousness to guard my heart, my will, and my emotions. It’s not my good deeds, but the righteousness of what Jesus did for me on the cross in dying for my sins. Today I will be righteous by the blood of Jesus who washes me clean. God, protect me from reacting to circumstances and people based on my feelings. Let me respond with Your spirit of truth and love today.
Jesus, today I wrap truth around me. You are the way, the truth and the life. Satan is a liar. Today I choose to believe the truth about who God is and who I am in Christ and to reject all other thoughts or words spoken by myself, my memories, or others around me. I am a child of God. I have been forgivenand healed by Jesus’ sacrifice for me on the cross. I have been filled with the Holy Spirit and today I will live a strong and successful life according to the Word of God which is truth
Lord, today wherever my feet take me, I will share the good news of Jesus. I will use my life to be an expression of your deep inner peace. Your word says, “how beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news.” Today, wherever I go and with whomever I meet I will bring good news. By my words and actions I will show that Jesus makes a difference in the lives of broken and hurting people and brings them peace.
God, today I take up the shield of faith which will, stop every fiery dart (negative thoughts) the enemy will throw at me. When doubts or fears or confusion come to me I will affirm the truth that God is with me and God is in control. I have nothing to fear. Today I declare the truth that You, O Lord, are the only true and living God and my faith is in You and You alone and what you say about me and my life. I will live by faith and not simply by my feelings.
Lord, today I take up the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Today I choose to use the words that come out of my mouth as a sword to tear down any lies that Satan has built up in my life and my circumstances. I will use my words with caution so as not to harm myself or others. Let me use my words effectively today to tear down lies and curses, fear and shame, and all other negative effects of Satan’s words in our lives past, present, or future.
