Praying For The Earth And The Whole Human Family

Sunday May 16, 2021

In spite of times of hardship we have much to thank God for and much to bless.  Today as we share prayers with others around the world we pray blessing.

Let’s begin with prayers of thanks for this amazing earth God has created and given to us to care for.

The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.  Psalm 24:1

O heavenly Father, you have filled the world with beauty: Open our eyes to behold your gracious hand in all your works; that, rejoicing in your whole creation, we may learn to serve you with gladness.  Make us always thankful for your loving providence, and give us grace to honor you with all that you have entrusted to us; that we, remembering the account we must one day give, may be faithful stewards of your good gifts; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen

Whatever land you live in on this earth we know that God’s heart is to bless if people will turn to Him and honour His ways.

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

So, let’s see how many countries we can bless today as a little group of people gathering for these few moments of prayer together.

Almighty God, who has given us this good land for our heritage: We humbly pray that we may always prove ourselves a people mindful of Your favor and glad to do Your will. Bless our land with honorable industry, sound learning, and pure conduct. Save us from violence, discord, and confusion; from pride and arrogance, and from every evil way. Defend our liberties, and fashion into one united people the many who come from countries around the world as immigrants and refugees.  Give the spirit of wisdom to those who are entrusted with the authority of government, that there may be justice across our land and that, through obedience to Your law, we may show forth Your praise around the world. In the time of prosperity, fill our hearts with thankfulness, and in the day of trouble, strengthen us so our trust in You does not fail; all of which we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O God, you made us in your own image, and you have redeemed us through your Son Jesus Christ: Look with compassion on the whole human family; take away the arrogance and hatred which infect our hearts; break down the walls that separate us; unite us in bonds of love; and work through our struggle and confusion to accomplish your purposes on earth; that, in your good time, all nations and races may serve you in harmony around your heavenly throne; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

May we* experience the love of Christ, though it is so great we will never fully understand it, and may we be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.” Ephesians 3:16

“May our love abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that we may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God." Philippians 1:9-11

"May the Lord bless us and keep us; may He smile on us and be gracious to us; may He look our way and give us peace." Numbers 6:24-26
