Prayers For Leaders and Helpers Around The World

Sunday August 8, 2021

 Yesterday we prayed about praying and now today we want to continue to pray for some of the things God tells us to pray for.  As it’s Sunday, we join together with some common prayers prayed by faithful people in churches around the world.

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—  for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.                 1 Timothy 2:1-2

I thought today since Canada has a new Governor General for only a couple of weeks now, that we could begin by praying for the Queen and for heads of government:

Almighty and everlasting God, we are taught by your holy Word that the hearts of kings are in your rule, and that you direct them according to your wisdom: We humbly ask you so to govern the heart of Elizabeth your servant, our Queen and Governor, that in all her thoughts, words, and deeds, she may ever seek your honour and glory, and act to preserve your people committed to her charge in prosperity, peace, and godliness;

We ask you to assist with your favour our new Governor General here in Canada, Mary Simon, our Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and the Lieutenant Governors and Premiers of the Provinces. We ask the same for all presidents and prime ministers and leaders of governments.  Send down on those who hold public office the spirit of wisdom, charity, and justice; that with steadfast purpose they may faithfully serve in their offices to promote the well being of all people; that in tranquility your kingdom may go forward, till the earth is filled with the knowledge of your love.  Cause them to walk before you in truth and righteousness, and to fulfill their office to your glory and the public good.

He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.  Micah 6:8

O God, you made us in your own image, and you have redeemed us through your Son Jesus Christ: Look with compassion on the whole human family; take away the arrogance and hatred which infect our hearts; break down the walls that separate us; unite us in bonds of love; and work through our struggle and confusion to accomplish your purposes on earth. Grant us grace to contend fearlessly against evil and to make no peace with oppression.  Help us to use our freedom rightly in the establishment of justice in our communities and among the nations, that, in your good time, all nations and races may serve you in harmony around your heavenly throne; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”  Matthew 28:18-20

For missionaries:

Lord Jesus, you desire that all people be saved and come to knowledge of the truth: You commanded us to make disciples of all nations: Bless all those who work together for the spread of the Gospel.  Make them faithful and true witnesses to proclaim your glorious Name. Protect them in all perils, support them in their loneliness, sustain them in the hour of trial; give them your abundant grace to bear faithful witness; Send down the grace of the Holy Spirit upon all your people, that we may give cheerfully of our substance for the evangelization of the world, and that the light of your truth may shine brightly in every place.

Wherever we find ourselves we pray to be kind and effective servants of the Lord.

God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.         Hebrews 6:10

O Lord our heavenly Father, whose blessed Son came not to be served, but to serve: We ask you to bless all who, following in his steps, give themselves to the service of others.  Endue them with wisdom, patience, and courage, that they may strengthen the weak and raise up those who fall, and, being inspired by your love, may worthily minister to the suffering, the friendless, and the needy; for the sake of him who laid down his life for us, your Son our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Thank you God for this amazing privilege of bringing all that we are to you.

Do not be anxious about anything , but in everything make your requests to God ..by prayer, thanksgiving and placing your request to God, the peace of God will guard your heart and mind fully beyond understanding Philippians 4: 6–7.

We place all these requests before you, with thanksgiving and receive Your peace to guard our hearts and minds going forward.  Amen
