Prayer To Live Free From Accusation and Judgment
FREED FROM ACCUSATION AND JUDGMENT
Why do we look at another’s sin and want them punished for what they have done and then look at our own sin and want compassion and forgiveness? We particularly want to see punishment inflicted on those people who have harmed us. The problem is, we compare ourselves with others and think we measure up better than them, but the real standard we are to use is against what God’s word says. The Bible tells us that we all have fallen short of God’s standard.
For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. Romans 3:23-24
Jesus stood against accusation and condemnation when He stood with a woman caught in adultery with condemners seeking to have her punished by stoning. Jesus spoke those famous words that only someone who is without sin should be the first one to accuse and seek punishment. And then Jesus said these lovely words to the woman:
Neither do I condemn you. Go and sin no more. John 8:11
He said these things because:
He himself [Jesus] is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world. 1 John 2:2
Prayer: Oh Loving and forgiving God, what a relief for that woman as she went from being condemned for her sin to being set free! And that is exactly what Jesus does for each of us today. We are so grateful for the penalty for our sin being paid by the Lord Jesus.
We pray today to stand firm on the truth that Your blood has washed us clean, Lord Jesus, and that we are free from all wrongdoing. The devil can rattle on all about this and that, but it’s all noise without any reality behind it. We’re living with joy today that:
Whom the son sets free is free indeed. John 8:36
Help me to stand firm on the truth that when You set us free, we are free indeed! Amen
Let’s live in the joy and freedom that comes from having no accusation and judgment against us. Have a great day.
