 WORK HARD

Each day we wake up and whether we are employed, in school, unemployed, or retired, God has good things planned for us.

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.  Ephesians 2:10

Where would the world be, for example, without thousands of volunteers who give themselves to helping others in ways that are too numerous to list here?  All God asks of us each day is to use the resources and opportunities that are before us.

Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.  2 Timothy 2:15

Our involvement in this day and our words and attitudes that accompany, are meant to give a clear expression of God’s goodness to anyone we encounter.  God sees all we do and it gives God great joy when we offer ourselves in loving service to Him and others.

Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.  Colossians 3:23

Loving God, when we take a moment we see so much of Your wonderful work around us in creation, in the loving people in our circle of family and friends, and in our own lives as we remember how You’ve been there for us over and over again

He causes us to remember his wonderful works. How gracious and merciful is our Lord!  Psalm 111:4

Help us today to live simple and uncomplicated lives today that express Your grace and mercy in all we do.  Help us to let go of the stress and drivenness that has us working for money and the approval of others rather than simply seeking to do the best job we can of all that You have made available to us.

And underneath all of it, help us to prioritize the one work that You ask of us:

Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent.”  John 6:29

Help us Lord.  Amen
