Prayer For Protection I Times of Vulnerability
PROTECTION IN TIMES OF VULNERABILITY
Life has many vulnerable seasons. That’s been made so clear to us during these long months of the pandemic. It was always true before that as well but it’s like a spotlight has been shone on our lives in so many areas to expose vulnerabilities.
We don’t have to be a recovering alcoholic or addict to say that without God our lives are unmanageable, and we are powerless to sort things out on our own. But we don’t have to live in insecurity and fear because we are vulnerable and need protection. To admit our powerlessness and our need for God opens up so much hope and power as we connect to the Living God who is the Higher Power who can restore us to sanity.
I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken. So many enemies against one man—all of them trying to kill me. To them I’m just a broken-down wall or a tottering fence.
Psalm 62:1-3
God has everything we need to sort out whatever needs sorting and to protect our tender hearts in the process. Every day of our lives provides us many opportunities to witness God's work of restoration in us. We can’t find the strength, the consistent availability, the kindness and understanding for us anywhere else but in God.
The Bible states it clearly: My victory and honor come from God alone. He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me. O my people, trust in him at all times. Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge. Psalm 62:7-8
Prayer: So, Gracious God, We choose to come to You today and to open our hearts to You in as honestly and openly as we can. Even though we experience a mixture of fear and trust sometimes when it comes to our relationship with You, we know that at we practice walking with You that we will become more confident that You truly are a place of refuge from the storms of life.
We need Your protection in so many ways as those challenges whack into us with more force than we are able to withstand on our own. Please help us to live in Your care today and experience the safety, stability, and satisfaction of knowing You. We do put our trust in You for You are the God who promises to heal all our wounds, forgive all our sins, and restore us to health in body, mind, and spirit. Amen
