Praying To Seize Today's Opportunities To Do Good

Friday February 11, 2022

Today we pray to recognize and use well the opportunities that this day gives us.  As John Wesley encouraged his friends, we want to do all the good we can to everyone we can in every way that we can.

God’s Word encourages us in this as well:

So be careful how you act; these are difficult days. Don’t be fools; be wise: make the most of every opportunity you have for doing good.  Ephesians 5:15-16

Make the most of your chances to tell others the Good News. Be wise in all your contacts with them.  Colossians 4:5

All of us must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent me, for there is little time left before the night falls and all work comes to an end.

John 9:4

Let’s pray:

Heavenly father we thank you for another day. We thank you that you called us to today and have given us life and breath to participate meaningfully in this day.  You’ve given us opportunities.  We know you are with us, wanting to use us so many people are blessed and good things take place for Your kingdom’s sake and for the lifting up and the blessing of the lives of many today.

As Your word has instructed us, we pray that we would be careful to use this time well.  I pray we wouldn’t just sit on the sidelines and let the days pass by but I ask that You would show us all how to be creative in the way we express love and grace and care to those who are near and those who are distant.  Help us to make the most of today’s opportunities.

Lord we believe there are new opportunities, new possibilities in these days that we’ve not had before.  Help us think about them and use them and really take this time to connect with You and with one another in ways that take us forward even stronger, even better, even more conscious of Your grace in the future than what we have been in the past.

We pray that in these days we would be wise, that we will carry out the things that You’ve given us to do in our families, with our friends, with those who are vulnerable in the community.  We trust You to show us what to do so we can be there for one another in ways that use the gifts You have given us, spread the love and respect and kindness that You raise up in our hearts for one another.

Through it all we ask Lord that we would be even more conscious of You, of Your love, of Your encouragement, of Your comfort.  We pray God that we would be more stabilized in the truth that You never change.  You are the same, yesterday, today, and forever. We invite You to come close to us.  We are going to come close to You.    Amen
