Praying With Confidence In God's Love and Help
Confident in God’s Love and Help
Out of lessons I learned when going through very deep times of darkness and difficulty, I put together some statements that I called “Life Affirmations.” Here they are:
1. I am loved by God, always. I am loved without condition.
2. My life is of great beauty and infinite value. God has a plan for my life that is meaningful, purposeful and joyful. There is a work for me to do today that will bless others and give me deep satisfaction.
3. God is always with me. I need never face my problems alone. Together with God, any difficulty can be worked out and overcome.
Now these statements didn’t just “come out of the blue” but are based in so many encouraging truths contained in the Bible. Here are a couple of them.
As for me, I look to the Lord for help. I wait confidently for God to save me, and my God will certainly hear me. Micah 7:7
I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living. Psalm 27:13
God, When You are in us we can be confident of a way forward because You are the God who saves everyone who looks to You for help, no matter the set of circumstances they find themselves in. We can have this confidence because we know Your promise that we will see Your goodness in the situation where we find ourselves.
We’re so glad God that we are not just shing things we wished could be true and hoping against hope. You tell us clearly, without doubt, that You love us and You are with us and You will help us find a fulfilling life today.
The LORD’s unfailing love and mercy still continue, Fresh as the morning, as sure as the sunrise. The LORD is all I have, and so I put my hope in him. The LORD is good to everyone who trusts in him, So it is best for us to wait in patience—to wait for him to save us. (From Lamentations 3)
While Your love for us is unfailing, it can’t be poured into our lives and settle us down unless we open our hearts to You and welcome You to live in us, and then trust Your words to be ours. You won’t force Your love and care on us. You simply make it available to us to receive, no strings attached. Jesus, we’re so grateful You did everything necessary when You died on the cross so we could have peace and a life filled with God’s goodness today and every day.
So today we look to You today, confident in Your love for us and Your willingness to help us face and overcome whatever comes our way. Amen
