PRAYING TO HAVE A MATURE LOVING CHARACTER

MATURE LOVING CHARACTER

A person with a mature character is one who depends on the strength of God’s love and care in them and is not shoved about by what people say or do or fail to do.  God’s strong love that He is offering us today in generous measure is enough for us to be able to think and act and speak in the best ways that brings joy to God’s heart and blessing to others.

I pray that your love will grow more and more. And let it be based on knowledge and understanding. Then you will be able to know what is best. Then you will be pure and without blame for the day that Christ returns. You will be filled with the fruit of right living produced by Jesus Christ. All these things bring glory and praise to God.

Philippians 1:9-11

Loving God, We want Your love to grow in us every day.  We want to love the day You’ve given us, love the people who are around us, and live in a way that follows our growing understanding of how You want us to live each day.  We don’t want to just get through today but to live what is best because we know that is Your loving heart for us.

God has planned a wonderful agenda for us today.  It’s good to take advantage of the opportunities that the each day brings.  As steady and mature people, it should be top in our mind to fulfill the responsibility God has given us in this day.

Many years ago, in a time that wasn’t all that great for him, this is what the Apostle Paul asked others to pray for Him:

Pray that I will be given the message to speak and that I may fearlessly explain the mystery about the good news. I was sent to do this work, and that’s the reason I am in jail. So pray that I will be brave and will speak as I should.  Ephesians 6:19-20

Loving God We pray to enjoy the day but by focusing on Your purposes for our lives today.  We want to receive the message from You that You want us to share today and then to be about the business of fearlessly sharing that Good News of the Gospel with others.  That’s the reason we live today.  Help us to do all we can to contribute to the sharing of the Gospel to the ends of the earth.

We end our prayer together today, Lord with Your blessing – that You, the God who gives hope, will bless us.

I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.  Romans 15:13

Well, knowing what’s best to do today, sharing good news wherever we go, and being filled with hope, joy and peace.  Sounds to me like a good plan for today.
