Praying To Let Optimism Grow In Our Hearts Once More

DARING TO LET OPTIMISM GROW IN OUR HEARTS

As temperatures warm up and vegetables grow in fields and community gardens, do we dare to let optimism grow in our hearts?  God’s Word encourages us to expect success when we keep our focus on God.  It says:

That person* is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.

Psalm 1:3

*the one who meditates on God and follows His way

Those who know your name trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.

Psalm 9:10

As Christians, we should be some of the most optimistic people on the planet as we ground our lives in faith - faith that trusts in God, learns from God, and builds on the promises that God gives in the Bible.  We are often encouraged by God to become optimistic rather than pessimistic.  Faith is the key building block to this transition.  Here are some pretty clear words:

And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.

Hebrews 11:6 NLT

So today we come to You, God to we entrust ourselves, our day, our circumstances to Your care, confident in Your care for us, Your desire to bless and reward us just for coming to You.

There continue to be so many things about people, places, and things that we cannot control but we have hope for today and the future because You are still in control.  You will make a way for us to move forward.

So Lord today we want to let optimism and a confident positive outlook on life to be rooted in us,  not because we won’t necessarily face challenges in the near or distant future, but simply because we trust in Your care and Your power to change anything that needs changing. You are with us.  You are for us.  You are the all-powerful God who created this world and us, and You sustain all of it – particularly though the tough times.

Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but steadfast love surrounds the one who trusts in the LORD.

Psalm 32:10

You respond to the difficult and challenging situations that are unique to each of us with wisdom and understanding  beyond all that we could ask or imagine. And so we place our confidence in You, Lord, and we invite You to fill us with courage and optimism.  Amen
