Adjusting To New And Better But Unknown
Adjusting To Bright Light
We were praying yesterday about seeking God in troubled times and praising Him for His help that is assured to us.
Each day, as we seek Him, God gives us directives to help us walk well and overcome sinful behaviour. This is good news, particularly for those of us who are learning how to live in the light after walking for many years under the convenience of darkness.
Anyone leaving a darkened room and entering into a lighted area knows how blinding the light can be. It can be painful to our eyes and certainly limits our ability to navigate our way forward. It is wise to proceed carefully so we give our eyes time to adjust and see clearly.
The Bible gives us these helpful thoughts:
God, You will open eyes that can’t see. You will set prisoners free. Those who sit in darkness will come out of their cells.
God says: I will lead them along paths they had not known before. I will guide them on roads they are not familiar with. I will turn the darkness into light as they travel. I will make the rough places smooth. Those are the things I will do. I will not desert my people.
Isaiah 42:7, 16
The same God who set us free from the prison of our dark sinful past promises to be with us as we go forward in unfamiliar circumstances that are now filled with light. We have God’s will clearly laid out for us in the words of The Bible and the Holy Spirit lives in us to guide us so we understand and apply God’s principles correctly.
Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.
Psalm 119:105
When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. John 16:13
Thank You God that as we get to know You, and adjust to Your ways, we will notice that our way forward will become clearer and clearer.
Help us to see and enjoy the many good things around us You are giving us and experience, on a daily basis, the purposeful life you planned and prepared for us to live today.
