Filling Up With The Right Solution

As we said yesterday, we are spiritual beings who have a soul and live in a body.  God has created us to feel complete only when we are filled with His life.  We can’t think and choose appropriately unless we have the life of God in us. 

Without God, we live stressed and obsessed with trying to experience pleasure that satisfies or will fix something that’s gone wrong.  Over and over again our efforts end in disaster. Without God, we just don’t know how life works.

But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means. 

1 Corinthians 2:14

Motor cars need a clear fluid (gasoline) in their engines in order to run well and transport people from place to place.  Water (a clear fluid) is much cheaper than gasoline and much more easily accessed but, if we put water into the engine of a car we will destroy it. All clear fluids do not have the same property and do not perform the same purpose. 

Similarly, at our core, we are spiritual beings and in order to live well we need to find a spiritual solution to live our lives as God intended.  Trying to fill ourselves up with work, sex, money or pleasure of any kind will never truly satisfy us and will actually only break us down. We need God. 

Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit.  Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life.  So don’t be surprised when I say, ‘You must be born again.’  

John 3:5-7

Heavenly Father, we want to be filled up with new life from You.  We do acknowledge that we need forgiveness for our sins, which You have already provided through Jesus when He gave His life for us on the cross.  We are inviting You, God, to come into our spirits and fill us with Your Holy Spirit who is the Spirit of life and truth and healing. 

We trust You to do today and every day what’s needed in us so we can begin to think and feel differently and ultimately make those kinds of behaviour choices that lead to us experience being fully alive.  Amen
