PEACE IN ADMITTING THE PROBLEM
God loves us and wants us to experience peace and joy in life. No matter how chaotic and stressful the circumstances are in which we find ourselves, as we admit our powerlessness to fix things on our own and turn away from our self-directed lifestyle to a God-directed life, we will begin to experience peace.
Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it.
1 Peter 3:11
We don’t have to wait until we have the solution to every issue we face in order to begin the journey to peace. We don’t even have to know how everything works in order to get started on life with God in a meaningful and satisfying way. The simple knowledge that an all-powerful God is in control and working our our behalf in what we are facing is a huge source of peace.
Why does a desperate admission that we are powerless and that our life is chaotic and unmanageable bring peace. Because we are acknowledging truth and living in truth brings peace. God is well aware that on our own we have been living in darkness and under the shadow of death. As we now walk a new path, God is ready and willing to come alongside us to be our guide and fill us with peace.
Because of God’s tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, and to guide us to the path of peace.
Luke 1:78-79
When we choose to acknowledge the darkness we are in and our need for light, God is ready to help bring order out of our chaos, calmness to our unsettledness, and comfort for every sorrow we’ve endured.
Thank You God for Your blessing on us to live in peace today. Over and over again we read in the Bible how people came to Jesus with their problems and as he offered them help, He reassured them with the simple words, “Go in peace. Your faith has made you well.” We’re so grateful that Jesus never changes and so we know and are assured today that as we seek and find Your help, we also are given peace to take with us on our journey.
Help us to be conscious of Your kind presence with us and give us humility to pay attention for the sound of Your voice giving us clear and helpful directions about next steps.
We are grateful to have You lead us into a pathway of peace today. Amen
