Praying For People On The Edges

Sunday August 21, 2022

Let’s use these moment to bless as many people as we can with the love and goodness of our Heavenly Father.

Lord Jesus, we pray today for those in prisons and correctional institutions. Visit our jails and prisons with your mercy and Your truth.  Bring the guilty to repentance and raise up a desire for a change of life according to Your will.  Give each one hope for their future, whether they are serving a long or short sentence.  Where prisoners are held unjustly, bring them swift release. Remember those who work in these institutions.  Keep them humane and compassionate.  Protect them from all that would bring harm. Amen.

Look with compassion upon all who through addiction have lost their health and freedom. Work in them to both desire change and to have the strength to build a new beginning. Restore to them the assurance of your unfailing mercy.  Remove from them the fears that overcome them. Give them focus to do what is needed in this one day.  And we pray also for those who care for them in their homes or in places of treatment.  Give them patient understanding and persevering love. Amen.

We also pray today for those who live with injustice, terror, disease, and death as their companions. Give courage and wisdom to those who are both victims of abuse and a change of heart to those who abuse. For families with loved ones dying at home or in hospice we pray for comfort and precious times to fill each moment of this day. Give comfort and strength to those who suffer today with pain or disability of any form.   May Your kindness and love be a strong and conscious presence throughout this day.

Amen.

Look with mercy, Heavenly Father, on all whose increasing years bring them weakness, distress,  or isolation. Provide for them homes of dignity and peace. Give them understanding helpers, and the willingness to accept help. As their strength diminishes, increase their faith and their assurance of your love.

Amen.

O God, you made us in your own image and redeemed us through Jesus your Son: Look  with compassion on the whole human family; take away the arrogance and hatred which infect our hearts; break down the walls that separate us.  Unite us in bonds of love and work through our struggle and confusion to accomplish your purposes on earth.  Amen
