WHATEVER THE DAY BRINGS

Friday August 26, 2022

Here we are in this moment on this day.  We have a bit of a mental record of some past events but absolutely no knowledge of what the next moments, days, or years will bring.

What’s our role in it all and even more of a question, we wonder how will we be taken care of through it all?

God makes a pretty huge promise with these words:

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

Matthew 6:33

So then I ask myself the question, “What does it mean to seek the Kingdom of God?”  Fortunately Jesus had a clear and concise answer for us when He said:

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.

Matthew 22:37-40

For some folks a standard response to something that was hard to understand or live into was “Yeah, whatever” and we might have a bit of that thought regarding these words and our uncertain future.

The experience of so many folks who have come before me and now quite a few decades of my own experience have proven that “whatever the day brings” what God brings is more than enough.

Reliable words from a reliable God proven over and over again.

These words help me to enter into a settled space to face what’s next.  Do you dare to pray them as well?

This is another day, O Lord.  I know not what it will bring forth, but make me ready, Lord, for whatever it may be.  If I am to stand up, help me to stand bravely.  If I am to sit still, help me to sit quietly. If I am to lie low, help me to do it patiently.  And if I am to do nothing, help me to do it gallantly.  Make these words more than words, and give me the Spirit of Jesus.  Amen

Whatever your day brings I know that God will help you face it and overcome it well.
