CONTINUING GOODNESS

Thursday September 15, 2022

There is nothing like getting up in the morning and beginning the day with words like:

The goodness of God endures continually.

Psalm 52

So few words and yet such great comfort.  I can feel the smile in my soul as soon as those words, including that word, “continually.”

We live in rapidly changing times and we need the steadying guide of the enduring hand of God.

Loving God,  we long to live conscious of your presence today, as we pray for knowledge of your will and the power to carry it out. You tell us in Your Word:

The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you’re dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well watered garden, like an ever flowing spring.

Isaiah 58:11

Thank you for your lovely promise to continually refresh us. Just hearing those words seems to bring refreshing and we thank you that no matter what we face in this day and going forward we can trust, not in our own strength, but in your promise to continually renew us and refresh us and make us strong.

You know that we live in troubled times. Thank you for the comfort we live in today knowing that you are to us a rock of refuge to which we may continually come.

We are reminded:

Be to me a rock of refuge, to which I may continually come; you have given the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress

Psalm 71:3

We need safe places. We need places of peace. We need to be able to lean on the strength that is greater than our own. We thank you that as we come to you, we always find that.

And now Lord, both for ourselves and others ask You to:

… fill us with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives

Colossians 1:9

We need that today. We welcome that today. We take refuge in your willingness to consistently pour that into us today. We look forward to the wonderful day that you have ahead of us because your promise is:

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases. His mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.

Lamentations 3:22
