FAITH COMES BY HEARING
What is God saying to us that can encourage us and give us strength to live through the challenges of the day? How can we open doors for what God wants to do in our lives and through us in the lives of others? These are important questions as we seek to live meaningful and satisfying lives.
The simple answer is this. In faith we need to come to God and pray. It’s helpful when we pray prayers that we know God will answer “yes” to and I don’t know a better way to pray prayers that I know God will answer “yes” to than to pray His own words and promises back to Him.
The Bible tells us: So faith comes from hearing the message and the message that is heard is the message about Christ. Romans 1-:17
Take this one for example.
Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.
Psalm 55:22
Here’s how we can pray in faith and know God is hearing and responding positively with love.
Loving God, you hold the past, present, and future together and You know every day of our lives long before we live them. You promised us that if we would cast our cares on You that You would sustain us and that You would never let the righteous be shaken.
Thank You for being with us today when it seems like there’s lots of chaos and plenty of out-of-control things going on around us in our world. We offer all our unknowns and inabilities to You and ask You to give us strength and wisdom to live today well. You’ve promised:
Don’t worry—I am with you. Don’t be afraid—I am your God. I will make you strong and help you. I will support you with my right hand that brings victory.
Isaiah 41:10
We’re so glad we don’t have to do this day on our own. We waffle. We tremble. We stumble. Thank You so much for the offer and availability of Your steady support as we go through this day. Help us to remember to turn to You and put our hand in Your’s so You can steady us and lead us safely forward.
We bless ourselves, our loved ones, and those folks who are known to You alone. Surround all of us with Your comfort and compassion today. We rely on You. You will not let us down. Amen
