Sustained THROUGH Overwhelming Times

What kind of circumstances feel overwhelming to you?  It’s different for each person but there come times for all of us when it all seems like a bit too much.

In such times God promises all of us refreshing strength, in our weakness and helpful support when we are fainting from weariness. 

My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever.

Psalm 73:26

What a kind and loving God we have.  God does not turn His attention away from us in our troubles and move on to some other planet in some other galaxy that’s more fun to deal with.  He stays right here with us, caring for us, making all of His love and power available to us every day.

To everyone feeling weary today God’s word encourages to do this:

Pile your troubles on God’s shoulders—he’ll carry your load, he’ll help you out. He’ll never let good people topple into ruin.

Psalm 55:22

Thank you God, for your offer to us today to pile our troubles on You and let you carry our load.  We need your help.  We need your strength.  We need to lean into You today because we are tired.

We pray special blessing on all those who are working long hours and for those who have waited long to find employment.  We pray for those who are dealing with health issues.  We lift up those who are in financial stress. We pray for marriages that are troubled and families that are feeling stretched and stressed. 

Show them new and useful ways to do all that’s needed, we pray, Lord.  Give them strength to focus on the important things in this day. Help them see little things that give them joy and gratitude. Help them to see You with them and experience Your comfort and reassuring presence.

Keep all of us aware, Lord, that our provision and our strength, and our ability to get through all of this comes from You. 

Lord when all else fails we will remember that You  give power to the weak and strength to those who feel powerless.   You promise that those who trust in the Lord will receive new strength. They will fly as high as eagles.  They will run and not get tired. They will walk and not grow weak.  We trust you.  We depend on you today.  Amen
