Consequences
Everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.
Romans 3:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23
We are blessed that God has always kept His eye out on human activities. He’s given us free will and has allowed us to make incorrect choices even though the consequence of those choices cost Jesus His life. He died for our sins, offering us God’s free gift of forgiveness and salvation.
You are a merciful and compassionate God, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. You are eager to turn back from destroying people. Jonah 4:2
Dear Heavenly Father, we confess that we have too often forgotten that we are yours. We fall short of Your wonderful ideals for us.
Sometimes shame clenches tightly around our hearts, and we hide our true feelings. Sometimes fear makes us small, and we miss the chance to speak from our strength. Sometimes doubt invades our hopefulness, and we miss opportunities to be people of hope.
For these things we ask your forgiveness and we also ask for your strength to do better in the future. Remind us to be who You have created us to be in our time.
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9
If we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. 1 John 1:9
Thank You that You not only don’t want to see us get stuck in the consequences of our sin but You are patient even when we are slow to repent and turn to You for healing and forgiveness.
We do that today, with humble and grateful hearts. Amen
I’m so grateful that God is there so we can live above the consequences of our own poor choices. Let’s limit those poor choices today but to also be quick to turn to God when we do stumble.
