God Is In Control

Here we are the last day of the month.  The days are getting shorter and the darkness arrives earlier each evening. 

No matter the advances in science, it’s clear that we still know very little about how God has created the heavens and the earth and how He holds it all in balance. 

Christ is the visible image of the invisible God.  He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth … Everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.

Colossians 1:15-17,

It’s great to think about an unchanging God keeping everything in balance even in the middle of changing seasons.

And so we give thanks to You, powerful God, that You are still in charge.  You are with us in power.  You are working all things today according to Your loving purposes.  You are full of wisdom and power and You are bringing that to bear on what’s going on in our world and in our personal lives today.

The Sovereign Lord is coming in power. He will rule with a powerful arm. See, he brings his reward with him as he comes. He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will carry the lambs in his arms, holding them close to his heart. He will gently lead the mother sheep with their young.  Isaiah 40:10-11

You promise us loving care and we want to lean into that today.  As a little lamb would lean into the shepherd carrying it so we want to find rest in You today – not because we have all the answers and explanations for how life works, but rather because You are with us and we are in Your tender loving care. 

Today, we invite You to rule in our lives with Your power.  Feed us and shelter us with Your kindness as the vulnerable ones that we are, holding us close to Your heart.

Our hearts really do find rest when we remember that we are in Your care because You are God who is great, who is in control, and who cares deeply for us.  Amen
