Staying Faithful To Our Commitments

 COMMITMENT

Commitment is asked of us in numerous areas throughout our lives. The real test we face in our commitments is to do what we’ve promised, and what is right, when times are tough, others aren’t keeping their commitments to us, and things are not going as we would like them to.

Despite the challenges, God invites us to live a satisfying life by making and honoring healthy commitments.

So trust in the Lord and do good.  Live on your land and be dependable. Enjoy serving the Lord, and he will give you whatever you ask for. Depend on the Lord.  Trust in him, and he will help you. He will make it as clear as day that you are right. Everyone will see that you are being fair. Trust in the Lord and wait quietly for his help.  Psalm 37:3-7a

And so we pray, loving God to trust You and do good.  We pray to be dependable, to be those who enjoy live and make life enjoyable for others.

You promise that if we depend on You, You will help us in all of this and You are faithful to Your promises.  We’ve proved that time and time again.

Fill us now with Your Holy Spirit so in difficult times as well as in the good, we honour our commitments no matter how inconvenient.  You are able to give us discernment to know how to navigate difficult and  challenging times ad that’s what we’re asking for. 

We live in a world and a time that says, “Me first.” But you ask something quite different from us.  You ask us to be with each other in love through good times and bad.  You invite us to wait patiently for things to work out.

May you commit your lives completely to the Lord our God. May you live by his rules. May you obey his commands. May you always do as you are doing now. 1 Kings 8:61

So Lord today, even when we don’t see it, help us to remember that You are working for good in all things as we follow Your will. We trust Your Word today when it says:

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9

Well, let’s do our best to be people of our word and keep our commitments.
