Transitioning To The New Year
In just a few hours the new calendar year will be upon us. I’ll miss calling my mom at midnight and making noise with her. She never missed bringing in the new year. Great memories.
As we transition from this year to the next, let’s build ourselves strong in the unwavering commitment of God to us and to His good plans for us going forward.
For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm. The Lord foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples. But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations. Psalm 33:9-11
Thank You God that when we call out to You in our personal challenges and crises, we are assured that You will help us and bring about those good things You have in mind for us, no matter what’s going on around us. promised.
Even when we have failed to live up to the potential You have for us, You are unwavering in working out Your purposes for us as we commit our will and life into Your care.
God wants us to end this year on the best note possible and position ourselves well going forward. How do we do that, according to God?
Repent! Turn away from all your offenses; then sin will not be your downfall. Rid yourselves of all the offenses you have committed and get a new heart and a new spirit.
Ezekiel 18:30b-31
Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
2 Corinthians 5:17
He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion
Philippians 1:6b
Loving God, this coming year is a fresh opportunity to improve our conscious contact with You, the only one who can restore and maintain our sanity.
We can’t fix ourselves, but You can. We are not smart to trust our own ability to carry anything through to completion but God, You “could and would if He were sought.” This is our New Year’s hope.
As we transition to this new year, we choose to commit ourselves to You. We lay down our fears and resentments. We receive Your comfort, Your forgiveness, and Your healing.
We trust You to help us find peace in this fragile and sometimes frightening world. Help us to continue to have faith in Your ultimate control and Your ability to bring about Your purposes, just as You always have.
We trust You, Lord Jesus. You came to be our Prince of Peace and we welcome You to live in our lives as that as we leave 2022 and move into 2023. Amen
