We tend to spend a lot of time in life reacting to what others say or do. God gives us good advice about where to focus our reflections.
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body, but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the one who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
Matthew 10:28.
As we make our daily inventory, it’s important to look at the things that destroy us on the inside - our soul – rather than just considering circumstances and people around us.
Where does danger lie for us? We’re pretty clear that resentments, grudges, fears, and the like are the things that eat away at us and take us down a dark path.
But, we also should consider where danger lurks in our own - desires, - work habits, - interactions with others, - on our devices, - in our daily routines. The list is endless.
But, we don’t need to be paranoid and live in fear. All we have to do is to walk simply and respectfully in God’s presence, one day at a time, we will find a good way and live safely.
Here’s the focus God gives us for today:
Love, the Lord, your God, with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength and love your neighbour as yourself.
We can do that.
