Beginning At The Beginning
Beginning At The Beginning
I’m never been more grateful for the stability of God’s Word to show us a path forward in these times.
In many places, but today, in the Gospel of John I think there is light for our journey. Familiar verses but so much beauty and challenging invitation if we can just hear them.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.
John 1:1-2
Whether we are at the beginning, middle, or end of a season we’re so grateful, God, that we find You there. You are with us in every season.
You go before us. You are beside us. You surround us and You come after us because ...
For in him [Jesus], we live and move and exist. As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’
Acts 17:28
We were made by You and for You and it is only at Your command that we exist today.
As we’ve said so many times, we don’t know what’s ahead. Whatever our future is, in this moment we are at the beginning of it.
Thankfully, You are with us. You are for us. You will never leave us nor forsake us. We feed our souls on this great truth and take comfort and courage from it.
Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
John 1:3
We want to acknowledge once again that we are made by You and that our lives are lived only at Your word. Life comes from You, God and we are encouraged by that.
You alone know the number of days we will live on this earth – they are all recorded in Your book. Children are born today and people die today and You are watching over it all – Your love and care, joy and sorrow, are there for every person at each stage of life.
And so we seek to begin this and every beginning with You. Help us to today live this day well and leave all the other days with You.
In the beginning was God. Let’s do this day of beginning with Him.
