Enhancing Self-Esteem
Enhancing Self Esteem
Low self-esteem is a negative sense of one's worth or ability to cope or do well in life. There's plenty of literature that links bad habits, relationship problems, even substance abuse with low self-esteem.
What does God, the one who made us and who planned a meaningful and satisfying life for us, have to say about our self-worth?
God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
Genesis 1:27
What’s the most beautiful thing you can bring to mind at the moment from nature? As beautiful as they are, only you and I are created in God’s own image. That’s the beauty God has put into us. Can we receive that today and let it lift us up in gratitude to God.
You are precious to me. You are honored, and I love you.
Isaiah 43:4b
Recently I saw on the news how researchers have discovered a new tunnel in one of the pyramids – one of the ancient wonders of the world. The careful ways they go about a pile of stone is nothing compared to the loving care we receive from the God in whose eyes we are precious.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."
Jeremiah 29:11
So much attention is given to space flight and telescopes taking pictures into deep space as people wonder about the past and seek to understand it in order to prepare for the future.
I’m grateful that we live in the care of the God who knows the past, the present, and the future, and who has specific plans for us that He will bring about. They are plans for good, for a future with hope. I may not know the details but I can rejoice in how good it is all going to be.
For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.
Philippians 4:13
Loving God, too often we fall into head spaces where we don’t feel good about ourselves, our circumstances, or our future.
We listen to the lies of the evil one who tells us we are defective or that we need something in order to fit in, to be accepted, or to feel better.
Today we want to ground our mind and heart in the truth that we are made in Your spectacular image; we are precious to You; You have an amazing future of goodness for us that You are working out in our lives; and You are giving us the strength we need today to face whatever we find in this day.
So help us to live today in the joy of being the persons You have created us to be. Amen
Well friends, let’s do just that. Have a great day.
