Road To New Life

Monday April 24, 2023

In the ancient world Romans were known for building great networks of road.

The Roman roads were notable for being solid and straight, having good drainage and using long lasting materials like concrete and lime.

When I was young I was introduced to a simple explanation of the Good News of the Gospel that was contained in a few verses from Romans.  It was called the “Romans Road” and if we live by the truths that are included in these few sentences, I promise you we will have a life that is solid and straight and one that will last not just a long time, but for eternity.

Point 1 on the Romans Road was this:

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.  Romans 3:23

That includes all of us – whether we’ve tried to be good or not.  We all fall short.

Worse news:

For the wages of sin is death.

Romans 6:23a

There’s no hope for us on our own.  We can’t fix ourselves.  We are lost and have only death and suffering to look forward to.

BUT GOD …. Two of the best words we will ever hear

BUT GOD demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:8

What we could not do for ourselves, God chose to do for us.  How generous is that.

Jesus Christ, whose death and resurrection we’ve celebrated recently at Easter, was our substitute.  He paid the penalty for us and offers it to us to present to the judge.

If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Romans 10:9 & 13

We can only give thanks, Lord Jesus that You did all that was needed so our sins could be forgiven and we could have new life.

We turn away from trying to make ourselves acceptable in Your eyes.  We know we can’t.  Instead, we stand under the love and provision of Jesus Christ who died in our place to pay the penalty for our sin. Amen

The most important thing a person can do is to make a choice to deal with the sin problem in their life and give themselves to God.  I pray you’ve done that and if you haven’t yet that you will think about it.  Get more information if you need it, but really consider this life changing offer God is making to you today.
