The Best Benefit Package

We’ve seen all kinds of news in recent weeks of people asking for benefit packages from governments or work places to give them what they believe they are owed.

We spoke yesterday about the importance of dealing with the sin problem we all carry and entering into a new life-giving relationship with God through Jesus Christ.  What we receive from God when we do that is the best kind of benefit package we could ever dream of.

By faith we have been made acceptable to God. And now, thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ, we have peace with God.

2 Christ has also introduced us to God's gift of undeserved grace on which we now take our stand. So we are happy, as we look forward to sharing in the glory of God.

3-5a  But that's not all! We gladly suffer, because we know that suffering helps us to endure. And endurance builds character, which gives us a hope  that will never disappoint us.

5 All of this happens because God has given us the Holy Spirit, who fills our hearts with his love.

Romans 5:1-5

We are made acceptable to God.  We receive peace.  Guilt and shame go.  We gain a clear conscience.  Fear of death isn’t necessary any more.  God gives us all these things in our new life.

Even more, we received a place of status and privilege with God.  He is ready and willing to fill our lives with great goodness that we don’t even deserve – everything we need so we can live secure today.

If that weren’t enough, God gives us hope for the future – an eternal future.  We will share in all the best that God is known for.  There’s no important dignitary or movie star who can even come close to what God’s reputation actually is and we get to share in that.  How’s that for elevated status?

Heavenly Father, we thank You so much for all You make available to us today.  Thank you for forgiveness of our sins, for peace with You, for a clear conscience.  We don’t deserve any of it but You freely make it all ours as we put or faith and trust in what Jesus has done for us.

And while it is true that there are some times of difficulty and sorrow we will face in this life, as does everyone who has ever lived, we have the assurance of this wonderful future to comfort us and encourage us to face what we need to face and get through it.

Thank you for Your Holy Spirit who lives in us, who fills our hearts with Your love, and in whose strength we have confidence in our ability to endure and thrive today.  Amen

Well, in these days of inflation lots of collective bargaining goes on to secure good wage and benefit packages for workers.  I can’t guarantee you that in your job but I can guarantee you the very best benefit package for life if you put your will and live into the care of God today and follow Jesus as your Lord and Saviour.
