Looking Up To Find What We Need
Here are some lovely words that encourage us to remember that God is with us from first thing in the morning until last thing at night.
Give ear to my words, O Lord, Consider my meditation. Give heed to the voice of my cry, my King and my God, for to You I will pray. My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord; In the morning I will direct it to You, and I will look up.
Psalm 5:1-3
Lord, Help us to open our hearts to You as the day begins, and keep doing that all day long, knowing that You are all we could ever want or need.
Thank you for being a God to whom we can look up. We need to be able to do that for so many reasons as pressures of life and weariness weigh us down sometimes.
Help us to look up no matter what we are facing or feeling. Help us to see Your heart of love and Your face of acceptance as we come to You and bring our concerns to You. Lord in this day we will direct our prayers to You and we will look up.
There are some other words in this little Psalm 5 that also encourage me.
But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever. Spread your protection over them, that all who love your name may be filled with joy. For you bless the godly, O Lord; you surround them with your shield of love.
Psalm 5:11-12
This what we commit ourselves to do today, Loving God. We don’t want to try to navigate today with all it’s concerns and challenges on our own. Today we choose to live with You, in Your care, God. We receive the protection You are providing us by following Your heart and walking in Your ways.
We’re so grateful that it’s not about even doing that perfectly because we do so often get caught up in this or that worry or self-centered way of thinking and behaving But, we want to be made aware of what’s going on in our hearts in those moments so we can return to you and seek the protection You are giving and be shielded by Your love.
We want to let joy fill our hearts and replace unnecessary concerns. We will give ourselves to loving You today and trust that as we do, You will give us that joy and peace that is even beyond our understanding. Amen
