 Mercy - Undeserved But Unending

Remember this song?

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases

His mercies never come to an end

They are new every morning, new every morning

Great is Your faithfulness, O Lord

Great is Your faithfulness

That should take you back to the good old days of the 1990’s but the lyrics are echoing these wonderful words in the Bible:

Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not.  They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I hope in Him!”

Lamentations 3:22-24

Wonderful words that can speak hope to us today about how God will always be near to us, just waiting for us to call out to Him so He can give us exactly what we need – mercy.

Whether it’s forgiveness we don’t deserve or help for whatever our felt need of the moment is, God wants to do good to us.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

1 Peter 1:3

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Hebrews 4:16

It’s nothing about our deserving it.  It’s just the goodness of God poured out on any who will trust Him and receive.

Lord, thank You so much for great love that is new and fresh for us every day.  You truly are everything we need and You are faithful to provide that for us day after day.  Thank you.  Amen

Let’s live in that generous mercy of God today.
