Affirming God's Goodness In The Face Of Challenges

Our good God has brought us to this day and He is going to take us forward in what are times with a mixture of blessings and troubles. 

We’ve had extended periods of excessive heat is so many parts of the world.  Here in Canada ordinary folks are finding it more and more difficult to not own a home but to find affordable rental units.  Wars in one part of the world significantly impact the supply chain of essential goods like grain. I could go on and on with difficulties we hear on the news every day.  Every area has their own highlight/lowlight issues.

In the face of great challenges and difficulties, let’s reaffirm our faith in the presence of a God whose word is faithful and true.  God is the same yesterday, today, and forever.  From everlasting to everlasting He is God.  His care for us will be consistent.

Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

Psalm 90:2

But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children

Psalm 103:17

So loving God, we are so glad that You are the God who has been, is, and always will be in control of human history.  In the middle of troubles and trials Your love is consistent and ongoing and You pour that out on all of us who turn to You.

You are faithful to do what’s right no matter who around us doesn’t.  And as we think about the next generations and the world they will face, it’s so comforting to know that You promise to do that for the children and their children.

We often feel like issues around us are so huge and our influence is so small but Your amazing perspective gives us hope today when You say:

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 

2 Corinthians 12:9

And so we lift our eyes to focus beyond the challenges in front of us, all around us.  We look to You and in faith we affirm today:

The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.

Psalm 28:7

We can’t fix every problem but we can find peace and joy and security today as we trust the one who can.
