More Than We Can Imagine

After speaking yesterday about Joshua and his “Big Ask” of God to make the sun stand still – and God doing what Joshua asked, I had some other thoughts that I wanted to add so here we go.

In the New Testament we read these words:

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

Ephesians 3:20-21

How much blessing do we miss out on because we don't really take God at His Word, and expect Him to do something immeasurably more than we could ask or imagine for us, in our day, to sort out the challenges we face?

I sometimes think we ask more of our government, who really are limited in both their wisdom and their resources, then we ask of God, who knows exactly what we need, who cares about what’s going on, and who is ready willing and able to act on our behalf.

Think about it, what have we asked God for today? Yesterday?  In the past week or month?

Heavenly Father, we know you love us. And stand ready to help us every moment of every day. Forgive us for wandering along with our own thoughts and plans, looking at limited people and resources around us to fix problems that are bigger than all of us.

Today God we want to take time to tell you about what’s going on in our world, our lives, our families, our communities, and even though many of the issues that we face certainly see more than what we know how to deal with, we trust that you are able to do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine.

We want you to do what will bring glory to you and what will work your purposes in our lives and across the face of the Earth. Increase our faith. Give us grace to take the action of asking you to do what’s good and right and trusting You to do that in the right way at the right time.

You do so much under the surface so the real issues get addressed so help us not to be confused when certain surface issues are not sorted out immediately.  You are at work.  You are doing more than we can ask or imagine when we surrender our will, our lives, each of our challenges to You.
