Change
Change is inevitable isn’t it? Even though it’s the middle of summer every day the sun sets a bit earlier. Temperature changes come and go.
We are by nature creatures of habit and so it takes a bit of encouragement for many of us to welcome significant change into our daily lives and routines.
While all change brings some uncertainty, aren’t we glad about the change God has given us by forgiving us, making us new persons, and giving us new life?
Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
2 Corinthians 5:17
Some changes seem to come more slowly than we’d like but once again we can give thanks that God’s timing of things is always for a much greater good than our disappointment about its seeming slowness to happen.
The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.
2 Peter 3:9
And so God, we pray to trust You in our changing times and seasons and to welcome any changes that You know we need to see happen in us or in our circumstances.
We pray to be perceptive and to recognize what You are doing and how You are wanting us to go forward with You.
See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
Isaiah 43:19
Through all the necessary changes we’re so grateful that You remain changeless and bless us with good and perfect gifts.
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
James 1:17
Amen
So today, let’s recognize what needs changing and trust God to be with us as we move into what’s new.
