Finding Purpose

Wednesday October 11, 2023

God has a purpose for each of our lives but we need to have conscious contact with Him to find out what it is.  If we make it our objective to seek God’s will, His favour and honor will rest on us and we will be successful in His plan for our life.

From time to time some of us get into a rut and struggle to see that purpose.  We have given our will and life over to God’s care and now are waiting to see what He will do as we seek His help to turn our lives around and live successfully.

While we are waiting there is something all of us can do.  We can improve our conscious contact with God by praying and reading the Scriptures.  This helps us increase our knowledge of God and we will grow in wisdom as we learn what His Word says.

And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is indeed at work in you who believe. 1 Thessalonians 2:13

God has given us His Word – we can read it in the Bible every day – and I hope we do – and we can hear it taught to us in church on Sunday mornings, in Bible studies that we participate in with small groups, or even through Bible teachers on the internet.

However we do it, we are meant to both hear, and study God’s word every day in order to know God’s good purpose for our lives how to live it well.

Loving God, we want to find Your good purpose for our lives today.  We know that Your Word to us is exactly that – the description and explanation of what is right and good for us to live today.

Whoever pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor.

Proverbs 21:21

Help us to carefully study Your Word and put it into practice so new understanding comes alive in us.

Thank you for Your Holy Spirit who lives in us to teach us what is true and to give us the desire and the power to put it into practice.  Amen

We’re told that God’s Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path.  I want to walk safely today in God’s purpose for my life so I think I’ll consult what God says.  How about you?
