Fruitful Living

Sunday October 8, 2023

How old is the earth?  How did it all come into being and develop?  These are questions that people have debated down through the centuries.

None of us were there before creation except God.  He alone knows all the details about how and when this earth came into being.

What I do know is this, however it got done, God did it and however it all keeps going, in spite of the difficult things we see happening around us because of fires, and earthquakes, and floods, etc., we know that God is sustaining life on this planet until His good purposes have been fulfilled.

Look at these encouraging verses.

Christ is the visible image of the invisible God.  He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything  in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see—such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.

Colossians 1:15-17

And so, Heavenly Father, our Creator, we are blessed to know what we do know and to leave the rest with You.

The beauty and complexity and order that You built into creation and even into our own lives is truly mind-bogglingly amazing!

We want to think well and grow in our understanding of how things are because we know that when we see things as they truly are we will be filled with so much wonder and gratitude that we will serve You well.

Once again we want to thank You for Jesus through whom all we know was created and even more so today, in our turbulent times, who is holding all things together.

There’s so much we can’t even see that You’ve created beyond what is around us.  I think our minds will be blown away when we get to heaven and understand more of what You’ve actually done that we just don’t know and can’t comprehend today.

But what we do know is that You are for us, You are with us, and we can depend on You for our life and for all we need for this to be one more extraordinary day that we get to live with You and for You.  Thank you.  Amen

Well, let’s keep learning and growing in our understanding of how things work and do our part to care for this earth and one another as God intends but at the center of it all, let’s trust our Loving God to hold us and everything else together.  Now that’s really living, isn’t it?
