GROWING MATURE BY TRUSTING GOD’S PROMISES

A lot of destructive attitudes and behaviours are based in the poverty mentality that results from our belief that our needs are not being met.

Today is a new opportunity to let go of this poverty mentality and to live in the security of God’s promises to meet all our daily needs.

We have everything we need to live a life that pleases God. It was all given to us by God’s own power, when we learned that he had invited us to share in his wonderful goodness.

God made great and marvelous promises, so that his nature would become part of us. Then we could escape our evil desires and the corrupt influences of this world. 2 Peter 1:3-4

God’s word teaches us that the way to escape the insecurity and inner drive that leads to so much disappointment, brokenness, and pain in our lives is to trust God and all He promises to be and do for us.

Anything else we try to use becomes a harmful dependency, and for some of us that has even included the chaos and pain of addiction.

Only in coming to believe in the faithful promises of a faithful God and centering our lives on those promises will we be able to live in a way that pleases God and gives us inner satisfaction.

We have mentioned these next words many times but I tell you, I’ve spoken them over my life many more times than I’ve mentioned them here.

These words so often are all I need to help me stop and get a new perspective and new strength in a difficult moment.

And God is able to shower all kinds of blessings on you. So, in all things and at all times you will have everything you need. You will do more and more good works.

2 Corinthians 9:8

Heavenly Father, we so easily forget that You are making all we need available to us in this moment in this day.  Help us to grow our faith in Your goodness and Your willingness to share that goodness with us in generous measure.

Forgive us for the many things we have put my trust in rather than in You and Your promises.  Help me to know You more and have faith in Your Word which declares that all Your promises are “YES” to me as I follow You in all my ways. Amen

Let’s live with these amazing words today:

God has made a great many promises. They are all “Yes” because of what Christ has done. So through Christ we say “Amen.” We want God to receive glory.

2 Corinthians 1:20
