Living True Regardless of The Actions of Others

 PRAYER MASTERCLASS

Well, we are slowly working our way through the very special words we have in the Bible in John 17 – words Jesus used in praying to His Father that offer us a wonderful way we too can speak with God.  Let’s continue.  Jesus prayed:

I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.

John 17:14-15

Lord Jesus, You were tested by so many every day.  So many were out to get You and destroy You but Your choice was to let Your heart be filled with joy and peace in doing the will of Your Father. 

That’s what we want to do today as well.  Whatever others say or do, however they understand or misunderstand our intentions and our actions, help us to just be true to what You’ve put in our hearts.  As the little saying goes, help us to “Let go and let God.”

We often want to escape our circumstances but Your way is often to help us stay right where we are but to live above the threats and the frustrations that are happening.  Whatever Your way for us is in our situations today, we pray to live well in Your protection and to have hearts that are peaceful knowing that You are in control of every single thing that happens.

They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.

John 17:16-18

Yes God, we want to live well in this world as You intend.  You want us to do good, not be obsessed or overwhelmed by what is going on around us.  You want us to care for these things and for their  impact on people but to keep looking to the truth and allowing the truth to take us forward in a way that is life-changing for us and a blessing to others around us. 

Help us to live as “sent ones” today.  We’re not those who are just reacting to what’s going on in and out-of-control world, but we are people on a mission, a mission given to us by the God who created the heavens and the earth. 

As You came into the world to make the Father’s love visible to people so we pray to live as those who do that in our own personal way today.  Use us to love and to lift up others, to speak truth and to encourage and comfort, to pray with faith and see the hand of God work in the lives of those for whom we pray.  Amen

We know great things can happen today as we live in the presence of God and do the work He’s given us to do.  Let’s have an awesome day doing just that.
