There are all sorts of situations that we need to enter that may initially seem threatening. Church, group meetings, any kind of new situation that is unfamiliar.
We don’t know the people, we don’t know what’s expected of us. We are in unfamiliar territory and it often makes us feel unsure and uncertain.
For many who are just getting to know God, this can also be how we feel. We are not even acquainted Him, don’t really know what to expect from Him, how to relate to Him.
Thankfully, God takes us as we are and helps us get through the unfamiliar, reassuring us all the way along that He will help us in every way we need it.
There are so many verses in the Bible that encourage us to trust the goodness of God all along unfamiliar ways.
“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.”
Psalms 91:14-15
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6
In every set of circumstances, even new and unfamiliar ones, if we listen attentively, we will hear God’s quiet voice encouraging us to be at peace and allow Him to settle our hearts.
As we choose to do that we will more and more notice that we are, in fact, accompanied by the One who is full of wisdom, compassion, and unfailing love for us.
Show me the right path, O Lord; point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you.
Psalm 25:4-5
Loving God, We want to learn to quickly put our trust in You, particularly when we are in unfamiliar circumstances and don’t quite know how to navigate on our own. Help us to relax in the fact that there is nothing impossible for us to achieve when we are following You and obeying Your will.
Help us to let go of our fear of the unfamiliar and allow Your loving power, oh God, to strengthen us to take one more step in the right direction. Thank you God, that You are always with us. Amen
What’s new and unfamiliar in your routine or your circumstances? Name it to God. Just ask for His help and then relax in His care.
