Finding Favor With God
FAVOR WITH GOD
Favor with God is a special blessing of God to us. It releases an attraction within us that others are drawn to, empowering them to become willing to cooperate with us in those things we are planning to do. God loves us and wants us to be successful in the plans He has for us. He has provided favor to help us!
Here’s how Mary, Jesus’ mother had that favor declared to her:
But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David. Luke 1:30-32
Jesus also is mentioned along with favor:
And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.
Luke 2:52
Someone has said, "Favor is like being dipped in honey so that the blessings of God stick to us."
As we listen to God, observe His goodness in our lives, trust His ability to lead, protect, and provide for us, we will find ourselves moving from ideas about God's goodness into an experience of that goodness for ourselves. This is living in God's favor.
It is God's desire that we would live as people who influence the environment around us so that persons who live in the same area may experience His best for them.
This is God's heart for the world -- one blessed person telling another of God's favor so that each person may open their heart and receive all that God has for them.
Heavenly Father, Thank you God that we have found favour with You, not because of who we are but because of what Jesus did for us and our trusting in His forgiveness.
As Mary and Joseph lived in obedience to your will and experienced your favour in their lives, so we choose to follow you and live in that stream of your goodness and mercy today.
We open ourselves up to You. Here’s our heart, our mind, our will, our lives – fill us with Your favour so we can live well and celebrate well and share well Your love for all with others this Christmas season. Amen.
Well, let’s live close to our blessing God today and receive all the favour He is pouring out for us. Have a great day.
