God's Blood Bank

 GOD’S BLOOD BANK

At various times throughout the year there are announcements on the media asking folks who can to donate blood and plasma because stocks at the blood bank are low.  We all know that blood is essential to life and health.  Blood is a perishable material and so there needs to be an ongoing fresh supply.

God has a blood bank.  The beauty of this blood bank as compare to the one where you or I might donate, is that the donation is there for us to receive rather than something we need to contribute to.

The Bible tells many stories and teaches us a lot about blood, particularly the blood of Jesus that was poured out for us so that our sins could be forgiven.

So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son.  He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins.

Ephesians 1:6-7

Thank You God for the amazing gift of the Lord Jesus, and His life’s blood poured out for us on the cross in payment, not for His own sins but for ours.  Thank you for freedom from sin and death this give us, today and for all eternity.

Jesus suffered and died outside the city gates to make his people holy by means of his own blood.

Hebrews 13:12

We look at the mixture of our thoughts, words, and behaviours and we know we are not holy on our own.  We need the ongoing cleansing and making new that Jesus makes available to us through His blood.  Once again today we simply ask You to wash us clean in every area of our lives with the precious blood of Jesus. 

But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ.

Ephesians 2:13

Thanks that again today we can live united with You God, close to Your heart.  We don’t deserve it.  We can’t earn it but we do receive this free gift of life and belonging that You are giving us today. We’re so grateful that we can know Your nearness today, in everything we face.

If we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.

1 John 1:7

So we rejoice that the blood of Jesus cleanses us so we can live well in relationship with You, God, and with others we will encounter in our journey today. 

Thank you for the blood of Jesus.  We may not understand exactly how it all works but we know the reliability of Your promises and so want to live in the protection and abundant life that we have today because of the blood of Jesus.  Amen
