Trustworthy Guidance

Sunday January 28, 2024

It’s Sunday, a day for worship and prayer.  A day to remember that God is with us and that we can face the future with confidence and joy because of the simple fact that God has promised to instruct us in the right way and guide us as we walk it out.

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.

Psalm 32.8

As we move along in this new year God, we need to experience Your hand in our lives.  We don’t know what the year holds for us, but whatever that will be we trust You, and we place every day of this year in your care knowing that, as in the past, You are with us, caring for us with constant love.

Even though God is with us we’ll still experience more trouble than we need to if we don’t humble ourselves and submit to what He shows us.  The Bible reminds us:

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

1 Peter 5.6-7

Loving God, Thank you that you make all things new.  We pray for your Spirit to lead us each step of the way.  Fill us with Your Spirit so we have both the desire and the strength to follow You at all times.

We ask that you will guide our decisions and turn our hearts to deeply desire you above all else. We ask that you will open doors needing to be opened and close the ones needing to be shut tight.

We ask that you would help us release our grip on the things to which you’ve said “no,” “not yet,” or “wait.” Help us to keep our focus first on you in every situation.

Thank you that you came to give new life, peace, hope, and joy. Thank you that your power is made perfect in our weakness.  Fill us with your joy and the peace of your Spirit. Direct our hearts and minds towards you. Amen

And here’s the reassurance we have as we move forward.

The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry.

Psalm 34:15

That’s what makes today a great day.
