Don't Give In To Temptation
DON’T GIVE IN TO TEMPTATION
Anyone who has tried to break free from the harmful use of a substance or an addictive habit understands temptation. We all know how easy it is to lie to ourselves until we are convinced that something we have been yearning for will make us happy and help us solve all our problems – only to relearn that painful lesson that things only get worse, not better.
Jesus knows best of all how difficult it is to deal with temptation.
Because he himself [Jesus] suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.
Hebrews 2:18
We are grateful, God, 87-for Your promise to help us and to give us victory over temptation as we turn our will and our lives over to Your care.
In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
Romans 8:37
Thank You Jesus for coming to earth, taking on human flesh, and experiencing our suffering and temptation so You could identify with us.
Even though You faced many difficult moments and challenges You never gave into temptation because You never doubted Your Heavenly Father’s care or power to work out His plan in Your life.
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are – yet he did not sin.
Hebrews 4:15
Lord Jesus, Where we are weak we ask You to strengthen us. Our desire is to live a victorious life in the power of Your Holy Spirit. Please help us to do so.
We ask for practical help so we live our lives in ways that keep us as far away from temptation as possible. Help us to be prayerful, asking You to help us to be conscious of what is helpful or what might be harmful.
Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing but the body is weak.
Matthew 26:41
We admit that we are weak, God. Please strengthen us by the power of Your Holy Spirit to withstand temptation and give us the will and the desire to do what pleases you. Amen
Jesus knows best of all how difficult it is to deal with temptation. Let’s consult Him often today as we face the day’s challenges.
