More and More

From early on in my walk with God, the following prayer, familiar to many, has touched my heart in a way that both stabilizes me and which creates a longing in me to love God more and respond more to Him.  How about you?  What’s your reaction to this prayer?

For this reason I kneel before the Father,  from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.

And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. 

Ephesians 3:14-19

It’s so true Lord that we have no idea how much you really love us. Even though we have looked at these words many times, we pray again today that you would strengthen us with your spirit in our inner being so that You may dwell in our hearts through faith and then we would be rooted and grounded in love. 

We really do want to know how truly wide and long and high and deep that love is. And even though we can never really understand completely how much you are giving us of yourself, we do want to be filled with everything today that you have for us.

We make ourselves available to you. We invite you to come and live in us. We invite your guidance and control of all that we desire, think, speak, and do. We know that when you are in control things will go well in all the ways that count.

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. 

Ephesians 3:20-21

And so God along with so many people for so many years we want to give you praise because you were able to do far more than we could ever ask or imagine.

Amazingly, you do it by your power working in us and so we give you glory through Jesus we pray. Amen
