A Season of Refreshing
Today we are thinking about God’s promise to give us a season of refreshing.
Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord
Acts 3:19
This life we have been given, this new season that is before us, begins with each new day. Yesterday’s mistakes, blunders, worries and pains are behind us. We are unable to change what has been said and done. We need to admit that, and repent and turn away from the evil things we have done. We need to turn to God who promises us a season of refreshing.
Living as if God did not exist is the first thing we need to repent of. We admit we are powerless. We come to believe God can restore us. We turn our life, including our rebellious self-will over to God.
We learn to recognize the voice of God’s Holy Spirit in us. He shows us behaviours and thoughts that are need changing or removing.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9
If we reach out and embrace it, a refreshing new life is available to us. Whether we are brand new in this life with God or returning after many stumbles, God is with us, and when we call on Him, He will answer us and give us love and mercy each morning for a fresh new start.
Sprinkled with the blood of Christ, our hearts have been made free from a guilty conscience, and our bodies have been washed with pure water. So come near to God with a sincere heart, full of confidence because of our faith in Christ.
Hebrews 10:22
Heavenly Father, Thank You for each day You have planned for us, and particularly for the season of refreshing that is ready and awaiting us.
We repent of our rebellious ways. We ask to be forgiven for our sins and freed from our guilty conscience. We know we can only ask this because we are relying on what Jesus did for us when He died for us on the cross and so we thank You for that great gift.
That’s why we take You at Your word and come to You with a sincere heart and full of confidence to receive the purifying from all sin that You promise us and the season of refreshing that surely follows. Amen
Well, let’s focus our hearts on walking in God’s forgiveness and refreshing today.
