Golden Words of Wisdom

Today’s word of wisdom is:  Wisdom is worth much more than gold.

Too often one of the faulty measures people use for determining the success of a person is how much money they have made.  Most of us know that lots of money can be made, but also quickly lost.  The Bible tells us this about the worth of wisdom as compared to gold.

Wisdom is worth much more than gold. Understanding is worth much more than silver. 

Proverbs 16:16

We can take great comfort that as we face both our hurts and our hopes with God, the wisdom and understanding of His written Word shows us where true success in life can be found.  Money doesn’t mend a broken heart and way too often even those with lots of money, but without God, can’t see a reason to go on living.

It is better to be a humble person living among the poor than to share the wealth among the proud. Proverbs 16:19

When we think we’ve got it all together and we know all that we need to know without consulting God or others, we are well on our way to big time trouble.  The wise person is the humble person who knows they still have a lot to learn and are willing to do something about that today.

Good people try to avoid evil. They watch what they do and protect themselves. Good things happen to those who learn from their experiences, and the Lord blesses those who trust him. 

Proverbs 16:17, 20

There’s “golden wisdom” to be found even in the ashes of our broken past.  God uses everything in our lives for good and will bless us as we sort it all out with Him.

Heavenly Father, Please work in our hearts so our desire to live right rather than have what we think is enough money.  We need the kind of understanding about how life works that only You can give us.

Give us humility and strength to actually let go of our past by putting all our experiences into Your hands.  You teach us how we are meant to respond to the memories and how we are to plan a new path going forward.  We trust Your love and Your great wisdom.  Amen

God’s wisdom and ways are so much better than our limited and flawed understanding of what’s going on in our world.  Let’s go for the gold today and receive all God is telling us.
